What is this course about?

The aim of this training course is:

To develop the competence of the participants to provide Oral PrEP to pregnant and breastfeeding women as per the current South African National Department of Health Oral PrEP Implementation Guidelines

By the end of this course you will know:

• The importance of protecting pregnant and breastfeeding women who may be women vulnerable to contracting an HIV infection.
• Benefits of taking Prep during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Assessments required before initiating pregnant women on PrEP.
• How to monitor and manage PrEP use during pregnancy.

Documenting and reporting PrEP use during pregnancy.

All health care staff providing antenatal and post natal services (clinicians, counsellors, health promotion, peer educators, community health workers and data capturers)
